I added one new dive, and brought another one back into my diving repertoire. The new dive is a dull twisting full somersault. The other is a double tucked somersault.
I've had been trying to get a twist for weeks before leaving vancouver and always ended up doing this stupid pose in the air (one hand behind my head, the other on my hip) and landing hard into the water on my back or my side. So when my new coach suggests I start working on it here in Seattle I am a little hesitant - needlessly. My first attempt I more or less wrap properly and get a decent half twist. More practice, a better wrap, and I'm twisting all the way around!
The other dive, the double front, was attempted once before and resulted in internal bleeding. So yeah, I was a little hesitant to try it again as well. But last night near the end of class I do a one and a half somersault and get so much height the coach suggests "ok, for your last dive, go for a double". Well now I kinda have to do it. And I do. It wasn't pretty, I didn't get the same height off the board I did for the previous dive so I didn't have enough time to come out of the tuck position, but I still got my two full rotations.
