Gaile's visit this time was a whole 10 days. After the weekend away with my work the focus was her job search. Her days were spent meeting people at local design firms and managers of showrooms and I'm happy to say she has a very very positive lead. Stay tuned - I might be staying in New York for a while after all.
Our evenings were filled with the usual shopping, walking, dining, and dancing but there were some definite highlights this trip.
Meeting up at Bryant Park after my workday and after one of her interviews. Having delicious food at the restaurant in the park and being able to work on the laptop courtesy of the free wifi.
New store finds - namely Shimna on Lafayette and their Caribou skin covered chair and Alessi and all their beautiful housewares.
Deciding to go out Sunday night to a nightclub I like called Home only to discover inside that we were at Bed (they are next door to eachother and Home was closed) where we've been wanting to go for some time.
Arriving at APT and Gaile talking our way past the velvet rope nazis.
Korean burritos at momofuku ssam bar.
The Zaha Hadid exhibit at the Guggenheim. Even if you're not a fan of her work you can't help but admire the process behind it.
Well, the entire 10 days was incredible but those are some of the moments that stand out. Gaile is back home now but we've already got the next visit planned, I am coming home to Vancouver for Canadian Thanksgiving in two weeks.
